Murray Brothers Lumber employs hundreds of Ottawa Valley residents in its mills and forest operations. The original Murray Brothers, Thomas and Michael, founded the company in 1902, with the long-term in mind for both mill operations and forest management. These ideals continue today as the company has attained Forest Stewardship Council (FSC®) certification, guaranteeing the customer that the wood comes from forests managed to standards recognized world-wide.
Murray Brothers sells flooring, lumber and a number of other value-added wood products at their mill location. All wood processed at the Murray Brother’s mill is from local, sustainably managed forests.
You can buy flooring and other products can be purchased from Murray Brothers by calling the mill at 613-637-2840 to check for availability and arrange pick-up or delivery.
“The sawmilling and logging sector continues to be the single-most important manufacturing job provider in the region. Buying local helps to maintain employment levels in this industry. In addition, local wood products come from sustainably managed forests. Products sold at big box stores, and through other distribution channels often come from forests that do not implement the same rigid environmental standards. There are significant costs associated with our sustainable forest practices. By buying local, consumers can help to maintain this region's unique and commendable forest management policy.” – Ted Murray
