Tom and Dawn Farnel started out making fine quality handcrafted items as gifts for friends and family and gradually started featuring their unique products at craft shows. Although their woodworking remains a hobby they have developed a wide variety of items you won’t find in stores. “Our crafts are useful, not just decorative”, says Dawn.
The Farnel’s list of products includes Adirondack style folding lawn chairs and love seats, picnic tables, fruit, bread, trivet and other baskets, cutting boards, chip & dip sets, lazy susans, eyeglass holders, jewelry boxes, candleholders, greeting card holders, planters and planter swings, bat houses and anything custom you can dream up! Tom points out that every chair order can be custom made for the person who will spend time in it. “We consider a person’s height, size and ability to get in and out of a chair when we make it”. They strive to meet the required specifications to create a comfortable piece of furniture for each customer.
Tom and Dawn buy wood for their products locally, because they feel it’s important to “support the local economy and maintain a supply of quality lumber in desired sizes”. They have made connections with the local pine lumberyard down the road, Popkie Lumber.
You can buy unique wood crafts, furniture and gifts from Tom and Dawn by dropping in at their home on 11133 Round Lake Road in Laurentian Valley (just outside of Pembroke), call them at 613-735-6680, email firstname.lastname@example.org
